Kiloh Smith's Psychedelic Poster Collection

Image
Kiloh Smith has been collecting psychedelic rock posters for over twenty years. His chief area of interest is Texas psychedelic posters. In his opinion, this is an extremely interesting area to collect in because Texas was one of the hotbeds of psychedelia in the Sixties. Additionally, these artifacts were done in extremely low runs compared to other places like San Francisco. Check out some videos below.

Kiloh Smith Runs World's Oldest & Best Syd Barrett Fan Group

Image
For the last 23 years, Kiloh Smith has run the world's largest, oldest and best Syd Barrett fan group. The group is known as the Laughing Madcaps and can be located by clicking this picture of Syd Barrett: This group has been responsible for many, momentous, things, in the Syd Universe, over the years. We started the amazing Have You Got It Yet? set about twenty years ago. This collected all of the unreleased Syd material into one collection; no more having to obtain a gazillion bootlegs. There has been a LOT written about it. Read some of it by clicking the picture below: That fans have the Pink Floyd, Early Years, box set is primarily due to HYGIY? The suits at EMI saw this thing being traded around freely and made their own iteration of it.  We are now working on Ver. 3.0 of HYGIY? This is going to be the be all / end all for fans of unreleased Syd. We've had some people come and go. We lost our beloved Moderator, Victor, to cancer a few years ago. Boy do we miss him. Get t

Kiloh Smith's BBQing Adventure

Image
We recently purchased a more robust smoker. Kiloh Smith & Anne Daniels just LOVE smoked meats & fish. The old, box, smoker was at the very, very end of life with Kiloh having to patch the bottom with scrap sheet metal. His wife, Anne, said to "Get rid of that *ghetto* smoker!" Here it is pictured and one can see that it truly was a *ghetto* smoker. BUT, it had provided years and years of good service and worked well still. As you can see, this smoker was beyond needing some TLC. I had to prop the door shut with a shovel. But there it is, working for us still. Anne didn't like how it looked and was concerned about people coming over and seeing it. My thought were; if they can't handle a *ghetto* smoker then screw 'em. That smoked mozzarella cheese, that the white suburbanites couldn't get enough of, was probably smoked in a garbage can with cut up New York Daily News strips as the combustion. This was told to me by my old friend, and actual Italian deli

Kiloh Smith & Anne Daniels at Soggy Peso in San Carlos, Mexico

Image
Here's a video of Kiloh Smith and Anne Daniels at the Soggy Peso in San Carlos, Mexico. San Carlos is right on the Gulf of Baja and is idyllic. The beaches are miles and miles long of white sand. The water is clear and green. We go to San Carlos as much as we can. The ride is approximately 400 miles but is very interesting; mostly through the Mexican State of Sonora. The food is amazing too, the freshest seafood you ever saw. These were some breakfast shrimp tacos right at the beach.

Kiloh Smith & Anne Daniels Visit Tumacácori Mission In Southern Arizona

Image
Kiloh Smith and Anne Daniels recently visited Tumacácori Mission, just above Nogales, in Southern Arizona. The first mission was established by Jesuit Eusebio Francisco Kino and his followers in 1691. Tumacácori is in the Santa Cruz River valley. The Missionaries encountered O’odham, Yaqui, and Apache people. We were coming back from a trip to Mexico and decided to stop. Boy we glad that we did! The mission building is in disrepair but not a ruinous state. Inside it is cool and shady. I shot the below video with my GoPro camera.

Kiloh Smith Starts Petition for Sundazed to Release Lost 1966 13th Floor Elevators Live Set

Image
Longtime 13th Floor Elevators fan, Kiloh Smith, recently started an online petition for Sundazed Records to release a "lost" 1966 set by that band. This was where the 'Elevators performed at a Battle of the Bands, in Rio Nido, California, during the fabled summer of 1966. The event was taped by an attendee and the tape has remained uncirculated for over 55 years. Some years ago, the person, who taped the 'Elevators, sold his cache of tapes to Sundazed Records. Kiloh had heard about the existence of this tape back in 2002 and then heard about the sale of it to Sundazed on his 13th Floor Elevators Faceboook group last week. He called "Jay" at Sundazed, who confirmed the existence of the tape and Sundazed's possessions of it. Kiloh then created the online petition which has gotten over 500 signatures within five days.
